Dr Barry Holmes BDS MSc MFDS RCS (Eng)
Working at practices across South Wales, Dr Barry Holmes has a wealth of experience in dental implants and cosmetic dentistry. Graduating in 2004 from the School of Dentistry at King’s College London, he began a career in general practice while furthering his studies and skills, first attaining his Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons of England (MFDS), and then an MSc (distinction) in Dental Implantology at the University of Bristol.
A skilled provider of dental implants, Dr Holmes has attended several hundred hours’ worth of advanced dental implantology courses in Italy, Spain, across the UK and in Switzerland. He is experienced in a wide range of hard and soft tissue augmentation procedures, including sinus lifting, connective tissue grafts and block bone grafting, using the latest evidence-based techniques and materials. His work has also incorporated a wide variety of biomaterials and adjunctive procedures, such as A-PRF (Advanced Platelet Rich Fibrin) and intravenous sedation.
As a general dental practitioner, Dr Holmes regularly carries out multi-disciplinary cases combining oral surgery, restorative dentistry, orthodontics and dental implants, and he has a special interest in cosmetic dental treatments.
Dr Holmes is the study club director for ITI South Wales and is a registered mentor for the Straumann Dental Implant System as well as full member of the BDA (British Dental Association), ITI (International Team for Implantology) and ADI (Association of Dental Implantology).
Dr Holmes has gained a prominent reputation across South Wales and as well working as the prestigious Parkway clinic, a specialist referral clinic in Swansea, he now has his own clinic in the heat of Whitchurch, Cardiff where he provides these treatments using state of the art facilities such as intra-oral scanners and dental lasers. Dr Holmes has a young family (son and daughter) with whom he likes to spend time (ie. teaching his daughter how to ride a bike and listening to his son, a David Attenborough in the making, teach him about all things animal related). He enjoys playing guitar, reading about astronomy, science, technology and architecture and he is also an avid sportsman, playing football, tennis and doing fitness training.
